Event #56     $1,500     Mon July 2 - 12pm     3 day event

We are getting special room rates at the Orleans Casino which is right around the corner from the Rio, along with a Suite to meet the other players, relax, party, etc...More details will be emailed to you soon!

World Tavern Poker has hardcore players from all across this great country from such places as Alaska, Michigan, North Carolina and Maryland just to name a few. And then ……………. There are the players from North & South West Pennsylvania and Western New York. You guys and girls are just flatout NUTS!

When my flights were canceled on both Friday and Saturday I was quite worried about how many people would actually show up, would there be an event, and thinking if there was an event maybe 20-30 at most would be able to make it. 120 is insane! What an amazing turn out and show of support from the players. Big thanks go out to Ryan and the staff at BlackJax’s and Quality Inn for hosting the events this weekend without a hitch. A big thanks also goes out to Phil Fish & Family and all of the numerous volunteers who stepped up in my absence.  First round of drinks on me next time we meet up.

Congrats to Mike Past, who won a free Gold Badge to Open 14 for having the best combined score (46) over the 5 games held this weekend.

Enough blabbering, here are the results of regionals, with the Top 13 qualifying for Nationals in Atlantic City this June!

Good morning everyone!

What an AWESOME Regional Championship this past weekend at the Millennium Hotel in Durham.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, special thanks to John Owens and John Martin who do such a spectacular job at our events!  Plus all the other great help we got…Yolanda, Pete, Tom, Josh, Kevin, Eric, Scootie, Donna and so many more (yes, I’m sure I forgot several others who lent a hand!)  THANK YOU!

Now on to the poker!

Friday night started off with a blast with a Shoot out event which had 139 players.  Congratulations to Walter Domeyko for taking it down.

Then at 9:30 we went into the Deep Stack Tournament that went well into the night with Mike Faas being the last player standing…Great Job!

Saturday started early with a 9:00am Kegs and Eggs tourney.  Congrats to the winner, Mattie Sanders.

Then the players started arriving for the Main Event.   301 players were seated, announcements were made and the cards were in the air!

9 hours later…it was Neal Bolton from Hillsborough bringing home the Regional Championship!

Please welcome the newest bar for VA- Northeast Region, Crystal City Sports Pub.

Crystal City Sports Pub is located at 529 S. 23rd St. in Arlington, VA.

They will be playing on THursdays at 7 and 9:30 pm starting this week on January 19th!!!

Samuel Becketts will be playing at 6:30 and 8:30 pm starting January 22nd! They are located at 2800 S. Randolph St. in Shirlington Village at Arlington, VA.
